Hakim Isler is a veteran of the Army Special Operations Forces community and has served in Iraq to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a survival cast member on hit shows such as the Fox Channel’s “Kicking and Screaming,” and Discovery Channel's “Naked and Afraid,” and “Naked and Afraid XL.” Hakim is a family man, community leader, author, and business owner. Hakim started The SOIL Foundation after recognizing how nature’s healing positively affects his own life.
Head of Instruction
Jason Smith is a retired 20-year Army Special Operations Forces veteran with four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a survival instructor with the U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape High Risk Course. He grew up with a passion for the outdoors, the woods, and understands how nature can aid the healing and escape from the stresses of contemporary life. Jason enjoys teaching and providing opportunities for people to learn basic skills, empowering them not only in an austere environment but also in their everyday lives.
EJ Snyder is a retired 25-year U.S. Army sergeant major with combat deployments to Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ranger qualified, he worked as a survival instructor with the U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape High Risk Course. He is a cast member on Discovery Channel’s new hit survival show “Dual Survival,” and three-time cast member on “Naked and Afraid.” EJ is a motivational speaker, a great all-around survival instructor, and a man of service, who is always there for his family and community.
Karen is a cast member and survivor on Discovery Channel’s “Naked and Afraid,” where she survived 21 days in the jungles of the Philippines. She is an outdoor enthusiast who loves to fish, hunt, make primitive shelters, and go horseback riding. She has a passion for helping others and seeing them unleash their potential. Karen believes in a direct connection between learning to survive in the wild and empowering one’s spirit.
Steve DeLellis is an experienced military tracker and survivalist. He has trained with Apache Indians on the western plains, the Border Patrol along the southern border of the United States, with the Iban People of Sarawac Malasia and the Miskito tribe in the jungles of Central America. Having spent over three decades in U.S. Army Special Operations units, he has used man-tracking extensively in remote locations around the globe.
